Our Research Trial

We are dedicated to ensuring that our services are based on scientific research.

Grant funding has allowed us to engage in a university-community partnership to evaluate the

effectiveness of the SOFS program.

Our study with 40 parents of donor-conceived children showed statistically significant benefits from

the workshops in:

- Higher skill level in communicating with their child around their origin story

- Better equipped to communicate with extended family, teachers, and community in sharing their family story

- More tools for responding to their child’s emotions and tricky questions around their origin story

- More confidence and emotional agility in having disclosure conversations

Currently, we are running a research trial to test the effectiveness of the SOFS workshop with same sex parents and SMC.

We presented our findings at an international conference (SCRA) in June, 2023 and have plans for future dissemination.
